Deaf man who 'felt' his victim's cries jailed for rape

A deaf man has been jailed for rape after admitting he could “feel” his victim shouting as he attacked her.

Justin Rixon, 41, had denied raping an estranged friend and insisted he would have stopped if she had “no to sex”, The Daily Mail has reported.

Rixon, who has been deaf and mute from birth, claimed he could not hear her crying 'No', but said, "she was so angry I could feel the vibrations of her shouting".

However, his victim told the jury he had forced himself on her after she said she wanted nothing to do with him.

Rixon was given five years and was put on the sex offenders’ register for life.

He was already a convicted sex offender when he carried out the assault but had been shown leniency because of his disability.

Judge Christopher Llewellyn-Jones said, "You were convicted on the plainest of evidence. You wouldn’t take 'No' for an answer".
