Cyclist to plead over bus driver assault

A cyclist is expected to plead guilty to punching a Brisbane bus driver in the face several times.

Jeremy Richard McLaren allegedly assaulted the 49-year-old driver after the bus overtook him on Sylvan Rd in Toowong on the night of August 29.

McLaren allegedly followed the bus to a nearby depot and waited for the driver to leave the vehicle before punching him in the face several times and fleeing the scene.

The driver suffered a laceration to his eye and lip.

McLaren did not appear in person in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Thursday.

The court heard the 46-year-old is expected to plead guilty to assault occasioning bodily harm when the case returns to court on October 23.
