WATCH: CCTV captures moment man saves cat from drowning in river

A dock worker is being hailed as a hero for saving a drowning cat from a London canal.

CCTV captured the moment Felix, the London Royal Docks Management Authority’s office cat, fell into the River Thames while being being chased by another feline.

In the footage, a worker, who the Mirror have identified as Scott Derben, is seen quickly running to the cat's aid.

He gets down on his stomach, grabs it by the scruff of the neck and brings the cat up to safety.

Scott has been praised on social media for saving the tabby.

“Flipping marvellous! Restores you faith in human nature. Well done to that man,” one person tweeted.

“Really want to buy this guy a beer or six,” posted another.

The Royal Docks management said Felix suffered no injuries.

“She also seems to be completely unware that the rest of the RoDMA team have been laughing being her back at the blasé ‘nothing to see her’ routine that followed her dunking,” they said in a statement.
