Why a 'flirty and forward' rhino is appearing on your Tinder feed

A wildlife refuge is using dating app Tinder in an attempt to keep a rare white northern rhino’s species alive.

Sudan, the last surviving male of his species, is described as loving the outdoors and enjoying travel.

The 43-year-old’s profile states he loves the outdoors and enjoys travelling.

"I don't mean to be too forward, but the fate of my species literally depends on me,” the profile reads.

"I perform well under pressure. I like to eat grass and chill in the mud. No problems. 6ft tall and 5,000 pounds if it matters."

Sudan’s owner, the Ol Pejeta conversation refuge in Kenya, is hoping to raise awareness and raise cash for an artificial insemination program.

Sky News UK reports the program would cost more than US$9million to use Sudan’s sperm to fertilise the last two surviving females of his species.

Any Tinder users who swipe right on the rhino will receive a message with a link to donate towards the program.
