Armed thugs throw woman from car, hold victims at gunpoint in terrifying carjacking

A woman was thrown to the ground as her male companion was robbed at gunpoint in a terrifying carjacking caught on CCTV.

The crime took place on the dark and deserted Rocheblave St at around 11:40 pm in New Orleans, US police said.

In the chilling CCTV, thugs lurk the street and almost leave the frame before they spot a 2012 Honda Civic.

The black vehicle pulls to the side of the road and the four thugs turn around and hastily approach the car.

One of the suspects sticks a firearm to the head of the male driver while another thug runs after a terrified female passenger and aims it to her head.

The suspect throws the woman to the ground while another thug demand keys and the woman's purse, local media reports.

All four suspects jump into the vehicle and flee the scene.

Each suspects is expected to be charged with counts of armed robbery and carjacking if located, New Orleans Police Department said.

The NOPD released the footage in hope of a member of the public being able to identify at least one the four suspects involved in the crime.
