Great-grandmother, 80, shot and killed intruder beating her husband with crowbar in their home
An 80-year-old great-grandmother in the US shot and killed an intruder who broke into her home and began beating her husband with a crowbar.
Barb Moles heard her husband's cries as he was being beaten during the night-time intrusion at the end of last month, KOMO reports.
The Washington state woman grabbed her .38 calibre pistol and rushed to aid her husband, shooting 25-year-old Steven Sheppard came running around the corner and hitting him three times.
It is believed Mr Sheppard was attempting to rob the home in the town of Sultan. He died at the scene.
Despite her husband's severe injuries and the fear that she and her son might have been next, Mrs Moles said she would do it again if she had to.

"You know, never in my whole life did I ever anticipate having to take another life – especially at age 80. Give me a break here," the grandmother told KOMO.
"I felt like if I hadn't, my son and I might both be dead and my husband might have bled to death on the kitchen floor."
Mrs Moles' husband was in intensive care but his condition has improved and he is expected to recover.
