A Tigerair flight from Brisbane has made a priority landing, touching down safely at Melbourne's Tullamarine airport.

Three cabin crew members were treated at the scene "as a precautionary measure" by emergency crews, who met the aircraft in Melbourne, a Tigerair spokesperson confirmed, however Ambulance Victoria said they assessed four people.

"All passengers walked off the aircraft unassisted," the airline said in a statement.

The Tigerair flight TT 511 from Brisbane to Melbourne landed safely around 10:05am after a pilot detected an "unusual odour" in the cabin on descent.

It was earlier believed smoke had filled the aircraft, but it was later confirmed there were only reports of an odd smell in the cabin. Oxygen masks were not deployed during the flight.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesperson confirmed paramedics were responding to reports of a hazmat incident.

The aircraft will undergo an assessment by engineers in Melbourne.
