Man arrested after 'stupid' shooting dare

A man is in custody and another is in hospital after a shooting described by police as a ‘stupid dare’.

Police said a 41-year-old man presented at the Lyell McEwin hospital in Adelaide’s northern suburbs after being shot in the arm just after midnight.

They said the man had been shot as the result of a dare.

Police believe he was shot with a low calibre firearm at a home at Brahma Lodge.

His injuries are considered non-life threatening.

It is understood a group of people were at the house when the dare was made.

It is alleged a 19-year-old man went home, collected a gun, returned to the house and shot his mate.

"This is an incredibly risky and stupid act," Acting Superintendent Krystina Koza said.

"Anytime, anything involving a firearm could result in death."

A 19-year-old Brahma Lodge man has been charged with causing serious harm and firearm offences.
