Liberals well ahead in SA: Exclusive Reachtel poll

A Marshall Government will sweep into power in South Australia on March 15, according to the latest statewide survey of voters.

An exclusive 7News Reachtel poll of 1330 voters shows the Liberals well ahead with 42 per cent of the primary vote.

Expected preference flows see an unassailable 55-45 two-party split and a swag of new seats for the Liberals.

The poll also shows Steven Marshall is a staggering 17 points clear as preferred premier.

On the key battleground of economic trust, the Liberals are almost 20 percentage points clear.

Reachtel’s accuracy is within 2.7 per cent, indicating Labor is in dire straits.

The barbs were flying today as Steven Marshall produced another leaked document on Jay Weatherill, alleging he went against treasury’s advice to cabinet to help secure Hewlett Packard’s expansion in the state.

Mr Weatherill said treasury rarely likes spending money, but that the $5.5m investment was a no-brainer.

“The Hewlett Packard arrangement is a fantastic arrangement for South Australia,” he said.

But the Opposition leader is potentially putting the contact at risk, saying he would axe the investment if he thought it did not stack up.

“We’ve got to be prudent with state finances,” Mr Marshall said.

The premier today announced rail services in Adelaide’s south would start on Sunday.

“Services will commence from Seaford on Sunday and we expect them to be electric services,” he said.
