Dutch Nuon teams claims world solar challenge victory in Adelaide

The Dutch Nuon team has crossed the finish line in Adelaide and won the World Solar Challenge after more than four days of racing from Darwin.

Tokai University in Japan was just 25km behind earlier this morning, with another Dutch university group, Solar Team Twente, in third place but more than 200km adrift.

On Wednesday the teams battled high temperatures, strong winds and dust as they raced through South Australia with the leaders still managing to make it to within 138km of the finish.

Much cooler conditions and plenty of cloud will greet the finishers as they complete their 3000km journey, the overcast conditions potentially slowing their progress on the final day.
