Rowan Atkinson cheats death in fiery crash

Actor Rowan Atkinson has cheated death after crashing his high-powered McLaren F1 supercar.

The 56-year-old Mr Bean actor lost control of the £650,000 ($1.01m) car near Cambridgeshire shortly after 7:30pm last night.

It's believed the car spun several times before smashing into a tree and a lamp-post before catching fire on the side of a carriageway.

He managed to escape from the driver's seat and another motorist took care of the shaken star until emergency services arrived.

Atkinson is believed to have suffered from a shoulder injury and was taken to the local hospital.

An ambulance spokesperson said: "A male was taken to Peterborough General Hospital with a shoulder injury.

"It was a minor shoulder injury. The occupant was out of the car when we arrived."

A source at the scene said: "It's a miracle that he managed to walk away from the crash. He's a very lucky man.

"The car was a wreck, really badly damaged. Rowan must be absolutely gutted."

It's the second time the comic has crashed the supercar. He previously wrecked the front of the car in October 1999 during a collision with a Rover Metro.

Atkinson is a renowned car nut and has a large collection of vintage vehicles.

He bought the McLaren to celebrate the success of his movie in the role Mr Bean.
