LOS ANGELES (AFP) - Outfielder Manny Ramirez has agreed to exercise his contract option and will return to the Los Angeles Dodgers for another season at 20 million dollars.
Ramirez, who was suspended for 50 Major League Baseball games last season after failing a drug test, has to donate one million dollars to charity as part of the deal.
The 12-time all-star Ramirez hit .290 with 19 homers and 63 RBI in 104 games. The Dodgers were eliminated from the playoff in five games by the Philadelphia Phillies.This is the second year of a two-year contract Ramirez signed with the Dogders. The first year of the no-trade deal paid him 25 million dollars.
He has a .313 batting average with 546 home runs and 1,788 RBIs in 17 major league seasons with Los Angeles, Cleveland and Boston.
