Cruel thugs film festival-goer as 'acid' thrown in her face

London's Notting Hill Carnival is known for its free-spirited fun and colour, but for one visitor it turned into a terrifying experience.

London-based journalist Jessica Noah Morgan, 24, was about to leave the carnival when a group of thugs filmed their friend hurling 'acid' in her face before punching her.

Hysterical, she tried wiping the liquid off her face before realising there was no burning sensation - it was only water.

When she confronted the man for his sick joke, he punched her.

Ms Morgan told reporters she was just about to leave the carnival when she found herself "completely soaked" with liquid.

"I was fine but completely soaked, so with everyone running away and shouting 'acid', I was terrified."

She later posted to her Twitter account, saying she would never attend Notting Hill Carnival again.

The incident happened a day after footage shows a crowd of carnival revellers running away from unsubstantiated rumours of another acid attack.

It is unclear when the footage was captured or if it was related to Ms Morgan's attack.

The footage was posted to Snapchat and Twitter by user Rastamouse88, who captioned it: "Apparently there's an acid attack".

There have been a spate of acid attacks across London in recent weeks, leaving many people on edge.

"People should be under no illusion that they can swan in with a bottle of Lucozade with acid in and not be detected," London police officer Dave Musker said.
