WATCH: Car crosses croc-infested waters just as monster slides past

The driver of a tiny car has taken the plunge and driven across a croc-infested river in the Northern Territory, merely meters from a huge saltwater crocodile.

The motorist made the risky decision to cross the infamous Cahills Crossing while the waters were overflowing onto the road.

In the video the small vehicle can be seen in the deep water with rushing waves reaching just below the car’s windows.

As the car makes it way from one side to the other a large croc appears from the murky water directly in the pathway of the oncoming car.

According to the NT News, Kakadu National Parks tourism and visitor services manager Leanne Paige said she was surprised the motorists even attempted the dangerous crossing.

“Obviously this is not the kind of behaviour we are looking to encounter,” Paige told the NT Times.

The saltie managed to slip quickly back into the waterway seemingly without being detected by the daredevil drivers.

“It’s a great spot to enjoy the spectacle of the crocs but act responsibly and safely and cross when the water levels are low and in an appropriate vehicle and view from a safe distance,” Kakadu National Park posted to their Facebook page.

In the vision the oversized croc appears to be larger than the tiny yellow car.

The dangerous crossing is notorious for crocodiles.
