Rescuers desperately try to save whale beached on NSW coast

Rescuers have desperately tried to save a young whale that became stranded on a beach on the NSW coast.

After realising it was beached on Saturday morning, locals rushed down to Brooms Head beach with wet towels and buckets to try and keep it alive.

One young woman who tried to help the mammal said members of ORCA came to the beach as well as park rangers and a vet.

Locals filled buckets to try and push the water up around its body in the low ride.

Tragically, the whale was unable to be saved and was euthanised by vets.
