Hunt for Aussie traveller who dropped thousands of dollars at Scottish museum

Any traveller knows the sacrifices required to afford an overseas holiday, so spare a thought for the tourist who just left thousands of Australian dollars behind at a Scottish museum.

While on their way to Edinburgh, the forgetful Aussie traveller stopped off in a small Scottish town of Biggar, Lanarkshire.

As you do on holidays, the tourist decided to stop in at a local museum.

As you try not to do, they left behind a “four figure sum” of cash.

“It's a considerable amount to lose and I am sure the owner will be, if not already, concerned when they realise it's gone,” Constable Mark Richardson said.

“However, we hope to put a smile back on their face knowing it's been handed in.”

After desperately attempting to track down the oblivious person, officers turned to social media in an effort to find them.

Anyone hoping for an easy payday was warned to think otherwise though.

"Just to let others know, we do know who it belongs to as we have the relevant paperwork. So if it's not yours, don't call to claim it!" Constable Richardson added.
