'Murdered' newborn in dumpster died of 'methamphetamine toxicity': autopsy
WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: A mother of four has been charged with murder after the body of a newborn baby was found tossed in a rubbish bin near her home.
Officers from Garfield County in Oklahoma, US, made the grim discovery in April, and arrested 26-year-old Kathryn Juanita Green.
An autopsy report released on Tuesday said the infant, identified only as Baby Boy Green, died of “methamphetamine toxicity” and the manner of death was “homicide,” local media reported.
Court documents stated the little boy’s body was found in a dumpster at the caravan park where the woman lived.
The newborn was reportedly wrapped in a blanket and rubbish bag, placed inside a suitcase.
His age was not recorded, but documents state he was found with the umbilical cord and placenta still attached, K4OR reported.
A park resident told investigators Green asked him to throw the suitcase away, saying a baby was inside, but he said he thought she was joking.
Oklahoma investors conducted a DNA test, which concluded the woman was the baby’s mother, NewsOK reported.
Green was also charged with unauthorised disposal of a corpse. She was also charged with unrelated offences of child neglect relating to her other three children: two six-year-olds and one seven-year-old; as well as drug possession and obstructing an officer, court records show.
Green was found mentally incompetent a month after her arrest, and was admitted to a state mental health and substance abuse facility for a brief period, court records state.
She remains in custody, and if convicted she faces 10 years to life in prison on the murder charge alone.
