Man punched in head at Sydney wedding still gravely ill

A man punched in the head at a Sydney wedding reception two months ago remains gravely ill in hospital.

He is seriously brain damaged and unlikely to get better.

Family and friends of Chris Gamolsi describe him as the life of the party and a man who would do anything for his family.

In May, the 55-year-old attended the lavish wedding of friends at Sydney University.

While the bride and groom danced inside, trouble was brewing.

A scuffle broke out, and Chris was punched with such force that he was knocked unconscious, falling to the ground and hitting his head.

Chris was the sole carer of his elderly parents, but his 86-year-old mother now spends 10 hours a day caring for him as he lies helpless in a hospital bed.

He has suffered brain damage and doctors have told the family he has little chance of improvement.

When Chris's mother heard the news she was at Sutherland cemetery visiting the gravesite of her eldest son Victor, who died six years ago.
