Ghost of 'servant girl' who died in a fire captured in 'spooky' footage

Tourists visiting a “haunted house” in the US filmed what appeared to be the ghostly apparition of a servant woman walking past a doorway.

Two tourists visiting Tyron Palace in North Carolina from the UK recorded the “spooky image” on a phone and obtained by Caters News Agency last week.

The footage captured what looked like a servant from the American Colonial period carrying a basket as she passed a doorway at the mansion.

The “ghost” was recorded Danielle Hyde, 21, and Savanna Brown, 23, when they visited the mansion last Sunday.

“The palace is actually known for being haunted,” Hyde wrote on YouTube.

Tyrone Palace was built in 1770 in New Bern, which served as the first capitol of the North Carolina colony, The Winston-Salem Journal reports.

But in 1798 the mansion was destroyed by fire before being rebuilt again in 1959 when it opened as museum.

According to the British tourist, the fire “started where the servants used to live” and ghostly figure was a servant girl who perished in the blaze.

The UK press has been in a tizzy over the footage, with Hyde telling the Daily Mail he “noticed the ghostly figure in the background when my cousin messaged me saying ‘Is that a ghost?’”

He also said the mansion had an “eerie” feel and was cold despite the summer heat outside.

The video has also drawn plenty of doubt, with many suspecting it to be faked while others dismiss the ghostly figure as a museum employee.

“First, the so called ghost has a shadow,” one person commented on the newspaper.

“And 2nd, every female that works there wears period correct clothing.”

Tyrone Palace is yet to comment on the video.
