Crashed 'hoon's' burnout binge knocks out power for hundreds

A "hoon" driver has said he "doesn't care" about residents in 700 homes left without power after he allegedly crashed his car into a pole while doing burnouts.

The 25-year-old disqualified driver was arrested by police after witnesses said he drove erratically in Kilburn, Adelaide's inner north, for over 40 minutes early Saturday morning.

On being asked whether he felt bad for the residents who lost power for 12 hours after he hit the power pole, he said: "I don't care."

"Can you f*** off?" he told 7 News Adelaide as he was led away by police.

Witnesses said they heard a "big loud screech and a bang" when the driver allegedly struck the pole.

"Power flickered and then just went completely black," one resident said.

"Some dude had smashed into a stobie pole, went through the front windscreen. There was blood everywhere."
