Mother, daughters found dead on Gold Coast in suspected suicide pact

Three women have been found dead in an apartment on the Gold Coast in an apparent suicide pact.

Margaret Cummins and her daughters Wynette and Heather have been named as the deceased.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Ephraim Island at about 3.30pm Tuesday.

Inside they found the bodies of the 78-year-old mother and the two sisters, aged 54 and 53.

One of the sisters’ husbands found them when he returned home from shopping.

“He’s in a distraught state but he is fully assisting us," Inspector Jim Plowman said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Proctor said there were no "suspicious circumstances, there are no offenders outstanding.

"It's an isolated incident."

It is understood that the elderly mother lived with and cared for Wynette, who was disabled, whilst battling her own health problems.

The other daughter, Heather, and her partner had recently purchased a unit nearby.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Procter said it was a "sad ending" to the lives of the three women.
