Former Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale arrested
Former Ipswich Mayor Paul Pisasale has been arrested.
7 News understands that it is expected Mr Pisasale will be charged with extortion and the assault of a woman.
It's understood Mr Pisasale is being held at a Queensland Police watch house on Brisbane's Roma Street.
The arrest follows a CCC investigation that resulted in raids on Mr Pisasale’s home and office.
One day after the raids he resigned from his role in a bathrobe, citing ill health.
Afterwards, it emerged that Mr Pisasale had been stopped by federal police with $50,000 in cash at Melbourne Airport in May.
