'They brought her back dead': Little girl dies at routine dentist visit

A three-year-old girl has reportedly died after simple dental surgery in the US prompting her heartbroken parents to ask questions about how she died.

Fox 40 reports Deleyza Avila Hernandez was getting two teeth pulls and caps on two others at the Children’s Dental Surgery Center in Stockton, east of San Francisco.

Her mother, Araceli Avila, said her daughter was “very healthy” at the time and that her daughter was “vivacious and full of life” before the procedure.

“All I did was I take my daughter to the dentist because they were going to fix her teeth, and about 30 minutes later they brought her back dead,” she said.

Mrs Avila said parents weren’t allowed into the surgery room but noticed an ambulance pull up to the office.

A nurse told Ms Avila and her husband, Jose Hernandez, their daughter’s heart had stopped.

Deleyza was taken to hospital and pronounced dead.

The surgery’s administrator, David Thompson, said Deleyza had a reaction to the anaesthetics during the procedure.

Mr Thompson said the girl was rushed to hospital but wasn’t sure what caused her death.

He added the staff members at the surgery were well trained and “committed to helping kids every single day”.

But, Deleyca’s family said they still don’t understand what caused their daughter’s death.

The Dental Board of California told Fox News it will investigate the incident and expressed its “deepest sympathy to the family”.
