‘They just exploded’: Shameful booze-fueled brawl at AFL blockbuster

Disturbing video has emerged of an ugly, alcohol-fuelled brawl between fans at Saturday night’s AFL blockbuster in Adelaide.

The Crows supporter who filmed the fight says the atmosphere on the hill turned sour after the siren.

The vision shows the Crows song blasting out around the ground and then emotions erupt.

“Go the f***ing power, go the f***ing power,” one man can be heard screaming in the crowd, as another is dragged by his shirt.

One man throws a coward punch, striking an unsuspecting fan in the temple.

“Some dude come, I don’t even know where he came from, threw a wild punch at a dude that wasn’t even looking, that was pretty disgusting,” witness Brandon Williss told 7 News.

Then another man is flung to the ground.

“This is what you call Port power supporters,” another voice can be heard on the tape.

Brandon Williss had driven from Renmark to watch the game with his mum but says things turned ugly in the fourth quarter.

“When Tex kicked that goal, that was pretty good, a good feeling, Port didn’t like it at all,” he said.

“They just exploded,” Terri Arnol a witness told 7 News about the attack following the kick.

7 News has also obtained video from the moments before the fight broke out showing tensions escalating and fans facing off, trading insults in front of children.

“You go to the game to watch and enjoy it, you don’t go to see that,” Terri said.

It’s still unclear if anyone was seriously injured.

“King hitting is just so wrong, just such a low act thing to do. It just shouldn’t happen,” Brandon continued.

Police say there were a number of minor incidents throughout the game, but insists the number of fans ejected was no greater than any other AFL match.

Port Adelaide says those at the centre of the fight have not been identified as club members or fans.
