Qantas plane bound for Melbourne diverted to Singapore

Qantas is thanking passengers for their patience and understanding - after a mechanical fault forced an emergency landing overseas.

QF-10 was three hours into its flight from Dubai to Melbourne when it was diverted to Singapore late yesterday.

It landed at Changi airport - where the engine was assessed by engineers.

Qantas says customers would be booked on the next available flight - or provided overnight accommodation.

The aircraft is expected to return to service today.
