WATCH: Buses smashed up during Melbourne business rampage
CCTV has captured the moment three buses were smashed in a bizarre rampage at a Melbourne depot.
Vandals used concrete blocks on the accelerators to force the buses to drive through the Cheltenham yard, smashing into whatever was in the path.
Seven News obtained CCTV of the trail of destruction, which could have come straight from a Hollywood movie.
“They’ve started the buses with a block accelerator and just watched them take off into our property and cause as much damage as they could,” said Tony Avramides who runs a neighbouring business.
The first runaway bus smashed through a fence before stopping metres from Mr Avramides's warehouse.
Moments later, a second bus can been seen crashing into a shed.
“I’m quite surprised that these people would do this type of thing for their enjoyment and disrupt a lot of people’s businesses and livelihoods,” Mr Avramides said.
A third bus crashes into a garden bed, while attempts to move two further buses failed.
It’s alleged two people broke into the depot and caused the damage early on Friday morning.
One of the alleged offenders can be seen running through the depot on the CCTV.
Mr Avramides said the situation could have been far worse, had he not emptied his gas bottle on Thursday morning.
Luckily the bus missed the depot’s fuelling station, which could have caused a massive explosion.
A truck and trailer was written off in the incident after being wedged into the side of a runaway bus.
A shed will also need replacing, after partially collapsing due to the bus impact.
Police are appealing for the public’s help to identify the two people who broke into the Philips Street depot shortly after 3am.
