Dreamworld to open one of world's biggest Lego superstores

After a difficult few months, Gold Coast theme park Dreamworld has announced it will open one of the world’s biggest Lego superstores in a bid to draw visitors back through the gates.

The new store will have enough Lego to fill to Olympic-sized swimming pools and is set to open on Saturday.

The attraction comes almost three months after the Thunder River Rapids ride tragedy that claimed four lives.

“The best we can do is bring on these new products (and) ensure our rides are all operational, which we are doing,” park CEO Craig Davidson said.

Since the Dreamworld tragedy, local ticket sales at Village Road Show theme parks have plummeted by more than 12 per cent, putting pressure on retailers inside the venues.

“People just need to regain their trust because they will be well looked after,” Deputy Mayor Donna Gates said.

The new store is set to emphasise Dreamworld’s family friendly appeal when it opens this weekend.
