Perth teen dies after motorcycle crash
A Perth teenager has died hours after his off-road motorbike slammed into a car.
Friends of 15-year-old Mitchell Chase have taken flowers to the Aubin Grove crash scene and say they are at a loss as to why he was on the road.
“He knew every road rule under the sun, (was) about to get his moped licence … he was very aware of all the precautions,” friend Madison Copeland said.
“He was always outdoors, he loved the boat, he loved fishing, he loved to be on the motorbike.”
The Atwell College student was thrown from his bike in the collision, while the 49-year-old driver had to be cut free from his vehicle.
He suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
Major crash investigators have been to the scene, which is less than five kilometres from Mitchell’s home.
Officers are trying to identify a dark sedan spotted in the area t the time of the crash.
Police wouldn’t comment on a witness report that the sedan may have been pursuing Mitchell shortly before the accident.
“We’re not going to rule out anything,” a police spokesperson said.
“The investigation is still quite fresh and we’re wanting to speak with witnesses.”
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
