Firefighters pull three dogs from burning Perth home, resuscitate one on roadside
Firefighters in Perth have tried desperately to resuscitate three dogs found trapped in a burning home, but were only able to save one of the beloved pets.
Neighbour Paris Boyer knew the dogs were inside the Camillo home, in Perth’s south-east, which went up in flames on Friday morning.
He smashed a window to try and save the dogs but couldn’t get in.
“The smoke was too thick,” he said. “You couldn’t see.”
Fire crews feared a person might be trapped in the building and entered the burning home.
The firefighters found the three dogs severely affected by smoke and brought them out to the roadside.
It was there firefighters tried to resuscitate the dogs, but only one could be saved.
The owner’s chickens, guinea pigs and rabbits also perished in the blaze.
In total, 70 per cent of the home was damaged in the blaze, with local authorities now assisting the occupants to find accommodation.
The cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
