Man charged after drugs, gun found

A man will appear in court on Wednesday after he was allegedly caught in possession of drugs, a hand-made pistol and cash in Coffs Harbour.

Officers stopped the man's Holden sedan on the Pacific Highway at Korora around 4.25pm on Tuesday where the vehicle was searched.

The officers allegedly uncovered and seized drugs, believed to be "ice", and cash.

The 34-year-old driver was taken to the Coffs Harbour Police Station. Police meantime searched a unit on the Pacific Highway in Coffs Harbour where the hand-made pistol, ammunition and more drugs were allegedly located.

All items have been seized for further forensic testing.

The man was refused bail on Tuesday and will appear in court on Wednesday, charged with a string of offences.

The arrest is part of Strike Force Bouchet, which was set up in the Coffs area in September 2014, in a bid to stem the supply of drugs into the region.
