Driver's terrifying game of chicken with oncoming semi-trailer

An impatient driver has narrowly avoided a head-on collision after a last-minute decision to overtake put them directly in the path of an oncoming semi-trailer.

Travelling behind a truck in the country New South Wales town of Cooma, the driver of a white sedan changes lanes to overtake the vehicle.

With a semi-trailer headed directly for the car the driver accelerates, determined to finish overtaking before the truck approaches.

Seeing the white vehicle’s daring game of chicken, the driver of the oncoming truck said he hit the brakes and veered off the road.

“Once I realised he was going I slowed and went left as much as I could without locking up the trailer as I was empty,” Matt Clark wrote on Facebook.

At the last second the sedan pulled back into the left lane, leaving inches between the two vehicles and only inches between life and death.

Without pausing, the sedan driver continues speeding off into the distance, unconcerned about the dangerously close call.
