Child dies in Perth driveway accident

A young couple were mourning the death of their two-year-old daughter after an SUV driven by her father hit her in the driveway of their Inglewood home.

The toddler was rushed from her Crawford Road home to Princess Margaret Hospital shortly after 4.30pm today in a critical condition but died a short time later.

Neighbours said they heard a loud scream come from the home.

A bloodied T-shirt was lying on the driveway where the girl was hit.

Neighbours described the little girl, who it is understood was an only child, as beautiful.

Major crash investigators were at the scene this afternoon.

It is understood the girl was outside her family home when she was struck.

Neighbours described the little girl as “gorgeous, happy and energetic”.

“It’s a very close neighbourhood, everyone loves them and we all love each other here,” one neighbour said.

Police will prepare a report for the WA Coroner.
