Norton Goldfields managing director Dianmin Chen will leave the company and it will move its headquarters from Perth to Kalgoorlie by the end of the year.

The changes follow the takeover of Norton by China’s Zijin Mining Group.

Dr Chen was installed by Zijin in August 2012 when the Chinese gold miner first moved on Norton.

Norton said he had overseen a prosperous period for the company in which gold production had increased, production costs had declined and overall profitability had improved substantially.

Zijin said it expected to finalise the composition of the Norton board in the near future.
