Student awarded nursing scholarship
Geraldton Grammar School graduate Abbey Smith has been awarded a nursing scholarship by the University of Notre Dame Australia.
Ms Smith was honoured at the university’s annual awards evening at the Fremantle campus last month.
The Clem and Rita Honner Perpetual Scholarship in Nursing is donated by John Honner and named after his parents.
It assists a student from regional WA who wants to start undergraduate studies at the university’s school of nursing and midwifery.
Acting Dean Karen Clark-Burg said the scholarship was awarded to Ms Smith in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements in Year 12, her exceptional personal qualities and community involvement.
“We are delighted to welcome her to the Notre Dame community and look forward to supporting her journey towards a future career in nursing,” Associate Professor Clark-Burg said.
Ms Smith has enrolled to study a bachelor of nursing degree.
