Maribyrnong River body parts: Passer-by discovers more human remains

A member of the public has found more human remains in the Maribyrnong River, in Melbourne's western suburbs.

Police said the man found the body parts near Oakland Street, Maribyrnong, just before 11:30am (AEDT) on Saturday.

The water police are continuing their search after a number of body parts were found on Thursday and Friday.

A passer-by found a forearm floating in the river at Moonee Ponds on Friday afternoon and police found a second limb and a bag with remains in the water two kilometres away on Thursday.

One arm had a distinctive tattoo of a devil holding a three-pronged pitchfork in its right hand and what appears to be an aerosol can in its left.

The body parts are being examined by forensic pathologists.

Police said they were treating the discovery of the body, believed to be that of a man, as suspicious.
