Deanne ditches FIFO, returns to Empire
A passion for hairdressing has led a Manjimup woman to ditch a life as a fly-in, fly-out worker and return to a familiar workplace.
At the end of the month, hairdresser Deanne Bachos is returning to Empire House of Hair, where she worked from 2005 to 2009 and completed her apprenticeship.
She said after working as a fly-in, fly-out worker at the Rio Tinto West Angelas mine, her passion for hairdressing drove her to come back.
"I missed the owner Penni Longbottom and the girls and all my clients and there's also the creative aspect of the job," she said.
"It makes you feel good to make other people feel good about their appearance. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with old customers and meeting new clients."
Ms Bachos said after helping out over the Christmas period she would return fulltime on January 27.
"I'm excited about going back because the team is different and it's a chance to learn new ideas and ways of doing things," she said.
"I'm also looking to guide the apprentices and help them because I remember being like them."
Ms Bachos was also the owner of FM Hair Studio after leaving Empire House of Hair but is not looking to be a business owner again.
"I'm looking forward to having some time to myself and enjoying what I do at Empire House of Hair," she said.
"I enjoyed my time as a fly-in, fly-out worker but I missed my family and it's nice to be home."
