Sydney drunk driver banned for three years

A six-times-over-the-limit drunk driver who crashed into a power pole and then drove without a tyre through Sydney's west has been banned for three years.

Anthony Ul, 30, hit the pole, and despite losing one of his tyres continued to drive for another kilometre in Emu Plains on a Saturday night in August.

He eventually came to a stop after he hit a kerb and was detained by shocked residents, police said.

Ul, who was six times over the legal blood alcohol limit, pleaded guilty to high-range PCA. He was given a one-year suspended sentence at Penrith Local Court on Wednesday.

He was also disqualified from holding a driver's licence for three years, slapped with a $2000 fine and placed on a good behaviour bond for one year.
