Seven 'online predators' arrested in Queensland

Seven men have been arrested in Queensland for allegedly trying to procure sex from children over the internet.

The men, aged between 18 and 52, were arrested in the last six weeks in separate investigations by detectives from Task Force Argos.

Some operations involved officers posing as children but at least one person was arrested over an offence involving a child in Brisbane.

The men were charged with a range of offences from accessing and transmitting child exploitation material to trying to procure underage children.

Police have warned parents to be vigilant about what their children access online.

Detective Superintendent Cameron Harsley said paedophiles were attempting to lure children everyday, targetting them through social media and apps.

"Year after year we issue a warning to parents about the dangers of internet safety as school holidays approach," he said.

"While it is important to remind parents once again of these dangers as children embark on their holidays and fill their downtime with online activities, this cannot be a once a year message."
