Outlaw motorcycle gang links suspected in separate arrests by NT Police

A man and a woman involved in separate incidents over the weekend have links to outlaw motorcycle gangs, Northern Territory police say.

A 21-year-old man who police said was an associate of the Rebels gang appeared in Darwin Magistrates Court today after he was arrested on Saturday.

The man stole two firearms and ammunition after unlawfully entered a city apartment on Wood Street on Wednesday, October 22, Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said.

"It is also alleged that he caused about $4,000 worth of damage by smashing a television and destroying a bed," he said.

He was charged with unlawful entry, criminal damage, stealing and possession of anabolic steroids.

Yesterday, a 40-year-old woman was detained after she arrived at Darwin airport and a drug dog singled her out.

She was searched and allegedly found to be carrying nearly 60 grams of the drug crystal methamphetamine hydrochloride, or "ice".

The woman was arrested and charged with possessing and supplying a commercial quantity of the drug.

Police are investigating links with an outlaw motorcycle gang, but refused to say which one.

Detective Detective Sergeant Matt Akers said members of outlaw motorcycle gangs "are driven by profit only and do not care what destruction is left in their wake".
