Men in ski masks rob three people at gunpoint in Darwin

Two men wearing ski masks robbed three people at gunpoint in Darwin last night before police tracked them to a suburban house and negotiated their arrest.

The men demanded cash from a man on Daniel Street in Ludmilla at about 10:30pm, then from a couple in a car at Casuarina beach car park, Duty Superintendant Del Jones said.

"A couple were sitting in their vehicle and they were approached by two men wearing balaclavas or a ski mask," Superintendant Jones said of the couple.

"One of the men was brandishing a rifle. They demanded cash from the couple.

"[The couple] handed some quantity of cash over to them and the offenders were tracked down to a residence in Moulden."

She said negotiators were called in to assist and the men surrendered to police about 4:00am.

She said the men had a long-arm rifle.

"Threatening individuals with a firearm is terrifying," she said, adding that the incident was being investigated by the Serious Crime Unit.
