Motorcyclist killed in Beckenham

The horror run on WA roads has continued after a motorcyclist was killed in a crash in Beckenham this afternoon.

Police Major Crime investigators are trying to determine how the male motorcyclist, believed to be in his mid-30s, came to lose control of his bike on William Street at about 3.50pm.

Major Crash Senior Constable Allan Mawdesley said the man received extensive injuries and died at the scene after crashing into a steel post on a median strip while travelling north.

The man was thrown from the bike into a tree and a second pole while his bike ended up about 150m away on a footpath.

Investigators were trying to identify the man so his next of kin could be told of his death.

Police were speaking to witnesses at the scene and have asked anyone who saw the rider before the crash to contact police on 131 444.
