The Voice winner *Anja Nissen *'s debut album has had a disappointing start, selling just 1952 copies in its first week.

Though the self-titled release debuted at No.11 on the ARIA album chart, it finished well behind *Angus * and *Julia Stone *, who are at No. 1 after selling 12,639 copies.

The news comes after Nissen, below, canned her planned winner's single at the last minute, which was due to be released on the week of her victory last month.

She is now recording tracks in Los Angeles with coach *will.i.am *and plans to release a new debut single, So Excited, soon.

However, the single does not feature on the album, which is comprised solely of covers - many recorded from Nissen's live performances on The Voice.

It will instead lead a follow-up original album that insiders say will focus on pop material approved by will.i.am.

The Blue Mountains singer's performance on the charts seems to mimic the ratings for the Nine show, with the finale being watched by 1.66 million viewers.

Season one's finale attracted a peak of 3.3 million watchers and winner *Karise Eden *went on to sell 35,621 copies of her winner's journey album in 2012.

Last year's victor *Harrison Craig *sold 13,167 copies of his debut album after 2.28 million viewers tuned in to watch him take the 2013 title.
