Truck traffic to increase

Up to 120 trucks per day could require access to Safety Bay Road and Hymus Street during the Mangles Bay Marina construction process.

Up to 120 trucks per day will require access to Mangles Bay, when construction on the marina begins, according to developer Cedar Woods.

WA State manager Stuart Duplock said the proposal was likely to generate between 100 and 120 truck movements a day during preliminary construction works. Mr Duplock said the high traffic volume, as trucks remove surplus materials from the site, was likely to last several months.

He said particular routes likely to be affected were yet to be determined.

“As with all Cedar Woods’ developments, a traffic management plan will be prepared before the commencement of any works,” he said. “The plan will be approved by the City of Rockingham to manage and, where possible, mitigate any issues that are likely to cause impacts both on and off site.

“Commonly, a traffic management plan will outline the times of day and the day of the week that truck movements are required to adhere to.”

Preserve Point Peron vicechairman Nick Davis said the proposed development would be difficult for the community to deal with.

He said increased traffic during construction was just one of a number of concerns the group held about the project.

Mr Duplock said a telephone enquiry service was likely to be established.
