Mother says she found blade in baby food

FIRST ON 7: An Adelaide mum is desperate to alert other parents saying she found a blade in a pack of Woolworths baby food.

Danni McLean said she discovered the blade in one of the pouches on Wednesday and immediately informed the company.

She had been serving up her nine-month-old daughter a healthy meal, but instead said she found a sharp surprise.

“I couldn’t really comprehend that it was an actual blade that had squeezed out the other end,” she told 7News.

'Baby macro meal time' pouches are sold at Woolworths stores across Australia.

After receiving no update from the company 24 hours after contacting Woolworths, Mrs McLean posted photos to Facebook.

The images have since been shared almost 4000 times.

Woolworths today apologised to Mrs McLean and in a statement said it believed the incident was isolated.

The company thinks the blade was probably inserted sometime around the point of sale, and cannot yet rule out sabotage.

While the product remains on shelves, the flavor in question - tomato chicken with pasta - has been withdrawn from sale, and Woolworths has also issued a recall.

“I’m just lucky she didn’t consumer that package,” Mrs McLean said.
