Bashed Melbourne man sends warning to attackers

A Melbourne man who was ambushed and savagely bashed outside his home in Melbourne's south-east has urged his attackers to hand themselves in.

Michael Harris left hospital this afternoon, with his face still swollen and shattered after a merciless attack in the early hours of Monday morning.

Among his injuries, a broken jaw, nose, and eye sockets.

The entertainment promoter's company runs a string of Melbourne nightspots, including Mon Bijou and Baroq House.

The attack happened as he arrived home after finishing work at about 3am on Monday.

Michael had just got out of a cab when several men swooped and bashed him, just metres from the safety of his own front door.

The attack was brief, but brutal, and when Michael fell to the ground, the gang put the boot in.

The gang's motive remains a mystery.

Very few people were around at that time of the morning, but it is hoped security cameras may help police to catch the culprits.

Michael took to social media to vent his anger over the cowardly bashing, telling his attackers: 'I really do feel terrible for you and once you've been charged and convicted, I'm going to sue you for every last penny you have...you could have killed me.'

Michael will need to undergo further reconstructive surgery.

"I'm not as sore as I could be, as I was, so I feel a lot better," he told 7News.
