Dog reunited with owner following massive house fire

A Sydney family has lost everything in a massive house fire in Sydney's west this afternoon.

It took a twelve firefighters at least an hour to bring the blaze under control.

They also managed to rescue a scared dog before it was reunited with its owner.

No one was inside the Quakers Hill house when it burst into flames, just after midday.

Neighbours say they heard a number of loud explosions, and could only watch as the brick home was destroyed.

"I heard the bang and then all of a sudden seen the smoke so I've come up and yeah the house was engulfed in flames," witness Kristy Armitage said.

A man who lives at the house says he's angry it took 20 minutes for fire crews to arrive.
