Pharmacy bandit tasered

A man was tasered by police earlier today after he tried to hold up a pharmacy in the Wheatbelt.

The man entered the business on Vincent Street in Beverley about 3.15pm.

A police spokesman said the man refused to leave the store after staff fled.

“He didn’t respond to the initial police officer’s request, so additional resources went in,” he said.

“We continued to try to negotiate with him and in the end an officer used a Taser to gain control of him.”

The man was not injured by the Taser but has been taken to Northam Hospital.
