Two men arrested after dangerous chase in stolen ute

Two men have been detained by police after the pair stole a ute from Sippy Downs on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The pair drove the vehicle down the coast to Brisbane's south side, before police were alerted and the perpetrators led them on a lengthy chase through various suburbs.

Both offenders exited the moving vehicle, and police were quickly able to arrest one of the men on Freeman Road, Oxley.

The second man was arrested a short time later, after bolting through several homes and yards.

The 7News helicopter tracked the thieves as the bright red vehicle evaded officers through the streets of Inala.

The chase began at Woodridge mid-morning when the Police helicopter spotted suspicious activity around the parked car.

At one stage police did attempt to stop the car using a stinger but the driver was able to slow down and avoid it.

They reversed into another car at the same time.

The ute was driven recklessly through several stop signs before the man jumped out of the moving car at Oxley.
