Ginia Rinehart's bodyguard dies after collapsing in London hotel

Australian heiress Ginia Rinehart has reportedly found her bodyguard suffering from a cardiac arrest in London's Dorchester Hotel.

Scotland Yard confirmed to Fairfax that Rinehart, the 27-year-old daughter of mining magnate Gina Rinehart, alerted authorities that a man had suffered a cardiac arrest in her luxurious hotel suite on Sunday 16 March.

The man was identified as 35-year-old bodyguard Jerry Rouwhorst, an Australian war hero who was recognised for his bravery after rescuing a man during a riot in East Timor in 2007.

Fairfax reports that Rouwhorst was rushed to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, where his family had travelled to be by his side before he was taken off life support.

It also reports that Rouwhorst had previously attempted to take his life before Rinehart found him.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson says the death is not being treated as suspicious and and inquest has been adjourned to a future date.
