Out-of-control car causes chaos in Rangeway

The driver of a red Holden Commodore caused chaos when the car crashed into several Rangeway properties early this morning, say police.

A police spokeswoman said the car was travelling north on Rifle Range Road about 1.30am when it crashed into a power pole at the front of an address, continued through a side fence, striking a carport and a parked vehicle, colliding with the front veranda.

She said the car then continued to travel through another side fence, colliding with another parked vehicle and pushing it into the front wall of the house, causing severe structural damage to both properties, before coming to rest after colliding with the side fence to a third adjacent property.

The driver and passengers of the vehicle left the scene.

Police said speed was considered a factor in the crash and Mid West Gascoyne Traffic were continuing inquiries.

Police are at the scene and State Emergency Service volunteers are assisting to secure damaged homes.

Motorists have been advised to keep the area clear and seek alternative routes.
